Did you know that October 29th is NATIONAL OATMEAL DAY?! What better way to celebrate than to try some new oatmeal recipes this month or just spice up your old ones…
Quick Oatmeal
(1/4 cup oatmeal, 1/8 tsp salt, 1/2 cup water)
In a microwave safe bowl, mix together oatmeal, salt and water and microwave for 3 minutes (or longer, until thickened), stirring every minute.
OPTION #1: Top with 1 cup berries or 1/2 banana sliced and 1/2 cup strawberry Greek yogurt.
OPTION #2: It’s apple season! Oatmeal + apples = fall to me. Mix prepared oatmeal with 1 small baked apple. Sprinkle as much cinnamon as you like over the apple and place in the microwave for 2 minutes.
Once oatmeal is cooked, add 1 scoop protein powder and some crunch (nuts of your choice). You won’t taste the protein powder because the apple and cinnamon combo take over the flavours in this dish.
Final step! Mix your oatmeal with your baked apple.
