3 QUICK marinades for meat
With BBQ season starting… marinades are a great way to create flavorful and tender meat. There are lots of different options to flavor the meat, place it in the fridge to marinate then pull out just before you are ready to grill add a side and you’ve got an amazingly easy meal.
All purpose marinade
Good for beef, chicken or pork tenderloin
1/3 cup low sodium soy sauce
¼ cup finely chopped chives or green onions
3 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 Tbsp canola oil
1 ½ Tbsp brown sugar
3 garlic cloves, finely chopped
1 tsp pepper
Per 1 Tbsp 30 cal, 3 g carbs, 1 g fat, 0 g protein, 280 mg sodium
Asian style Marinade
½ cup rice vinegar
½ cup low sodium soy sauce
2 Tbsp honey
1 tsp ground ginger
½ tsp pepper
3 garlic cloves minced
1 lemon thinly sliced
Marinate for minimum 30 minutes or up to 2 hrs.
Herbed Spice Rub
Plan on using 2 Tbsp per 4 servings of boneless chicken or meat, or 1 tbsp per 4 servings of fish
3 Tbsp dried rosemary
2 Tbsp ground cumin
2 Tbsp ground coriander
1 Tbsp dried oregano
2 tsp cinnamon
½ tsp salt
What do to:
Rub meat/poultry/fish with spice mix and refrigerate for at least 4 hours.
For shorter prep time, try mixing 1 Tbsp spice mix with 1 Tbsp vegetable oil, plus 1 clove of finely chopped garlic and brush over 4 servings before grilling.
For no mess try placing all the ingredients in a ziploc bag, then place the meat and shake it up!
