It’s that time a year again, time to buy a lunch bag and fill it for the next 10 months with healthy foods for your growing child.  Bento boxes are all the craze, allowing for easier lunch prep without wasting multiple baggies and helping with portion control too.  Here are our top ten bento box lunch ideas – kids and adults will love!

  1. Meat & Cheese – 4 slices lean luncheon meat, 1 oz low fat cheese, 1 cup raw veggies, 3 crackers, 2 tbsp nuts or 3 tbsp seeds
  2. Tuna Salad – 1 can tuna mixed with a 1tsp mayo, 1 oz low fat cheese, 1 cup fruit, 3 crackers, 2 tbsp nuts or 3 tbsp seeds
  3. Protein Egg Box – 2 hard boiled eggs, 2 oz low fat cheese, 1/2 cup of raw veggies, 3 pieces of dried fruit, 3 corn crackers
  4. Protein Wraps – 4 oz salmon (or protein of choice), 1 1/2 cups grilled veggies, 1 cup lettuce leaves
  5. Greek Chicken Salad – 2 small pita rounds, 3 cups chopped tomato, cucumber and red onion, 4 oz cooked chicken breast, 1 tbsp greek dressing or hummus
  6. Taco Salad – 10 tortilla chips, 1 cup shredded lettuce, 2 tbsp salsa, 2 oz ground chicken/turkey, 2 oz shredded light cheese
  7. Breakfast Box – 2 protein pancakes, 2oz turkey bacon, 1/2 cup berries, 1 tbsp light syrup
  8. Sushi Bowl – 1/2 rice, 1 cup edamame beans, 6 cooked shrimp or 4 oz fish of choice, 1/4 avocado
  9. Personal Pizza – 2 small naan bread, 2 tbsp pizza sauce, 2 oz sliced turkey pepperoni, 2 oz shredded light cheese, 1/2 cup fruit
  10. Pinwheel Wrap – 1/2 cup fruit, 1 small wrap, 1 cup sliced cucumber and red pepper, 4 slices lean luncheon meat, 2 tbsp light cream cheese (Spread cream cheese on wrap, layer veggies and meat, roll and slice to make pinwheels)
