I am a firm believer that you can only put your mind to something when you are ready to. And I was in the stage of my life where I was going to either do something about my weight or let it take over me. I felt sluggish, weak and definitely wasn’t happy about the shape my body was taking! Every woman can attest that your body morphs as you age, especially after 40!
After hearing about MCC from a friend who just had a hip replacement at 40 – I knew that if she could do it, then so could I! I needed something flexible to fit into my busy life; working full-time and with 2 pre-teens in rep sports. MCC offered a wide range of class times so I really had no excuse that I couldn’t fit it in somewhere. My only experience was with a regular gym where you are just a number and I can’t tell you how much of a waste of money that was! Once I started at MCC, I quickly became hooked! The community was nothing like I’ve ever experienced. The trainers understood my needs and my goals and were there to correct me and motivate me all the way. There was no judgment by anyone – we were all there for the same goal – to be healthier, better people!
Today, I am 30lbs lighter, a heck of a lot stronger, making healthier choices and have lots of energy – I can walk longer, run longer and still talk while I workout 😉! My only regret, not starting to take time for ME sooner! Don’t wait for the right time because there never will be one and the excuses can be endless, trust me. I’m not going to tell you that it was easy – be ready to sweat and some occasional swearing. MCC gives you all the resources; fitness, nutrition, recovery – use these resources, ask questions and keep on it! I’ve been able to keep my weight off for over a year – and now to me, it’s not about the weight – it’s about feeling GOOD, being the best version of me and instilling the benefits of a positive, healthy lifestyle to my kids.
