Jenn M’s Story
I joined MCC in September 2017 and it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made! I was overweight, out of shape, going to physio 2-3 times a week, and needed to improve my mental health. My first step was to focus on nutrition. For approx. 6 months I worked with the amazing nutritionists at MCC – they were supportive, knowledgeable and taught me the right way to eat for good health and weight loss. Feeling confident and happy, I felt brave enough to join MCC’s running clinic (something I had NEVER done before and SWORE I hated) that Spring. I was hooked after our first session, and fell in love with running.
Feeling great and ready for more challenges, I joined MCC’s fitness program in the summer of 2018, and it’s the most fun and success I’ve ever had at a gym. The amazing teachers, small class size, and supportive classmates all add up to a great environment that’s both fun and challenging. Since joining MCC, I’ve lost 40 lbs, ran a half-marathon (ME!?!?!) and was able to stop going to physio. I’ve improved my fitness, physical/mental health, confidence and overall lifestyle.
Because exercise and nutrition has had such a positive impact on my own mental health, this March I’m participating in a 100km hike through the high altitude Andean Volcano Region in Ecuador to raise funds in support of Canada’s Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) – something I would have never even fathomed I’d be capable of doing before joining. I can’t recommend MCC enough – it’s a wonderful team, and a wonderful, supportive community atmosphere to help you reach your goals!
